As part of the 4th Darmstadt Days of Transformation (DTdT22), the tdAcademy, together with the Schader Foundation, held the two-hour digital workshop "Capacity building for transdisciplinary research - How educational opportunities promote mutual learning and design processes" on March 16, 2022. With over 120 registrations, this was a workshop in high demand at DTdT22. In addition to the high number of participants, the diversity of backgrounds and the wealth of experience of the participating researchers and practitioners was impressive.
The digital workshop addressed the question of how scientists and practitioners can be provided with the necessary methods, concepts, tools and soft skills to make a transformative contribution to achieving the 17 UN Sustainable Development Goals through transdisciplinary research.
In the first half of the workshop, Prof. Dr. Daniel Lang (Leuphana University of Lüneburg) and Dr. Bettina König (Eberswalde University of Applied Sciences, Humboldt University of Berlin) presented two keynote speeches on various approaches for the education and training of scientists and practitioners in the field of transdisciplinary research. In the second half of the workshop, the participants discussed current needs, offers and gaps for transdisciplinary capacity building in different and regularly changing small groups.
