From 22 to 24 November 2023, the "Second Conference on Networking and Strengthening Participation in Science" at Chemnitz University of Technology was very well attended with over 200 participants. The conference successfully brought together participatory and transdisciplinary researchers from different communities, such as citizen science, public health, participatory technology research and problem-orientated transdisciplinary research.
The tdAcademy organised panels to discuss the results of the "Research" module. An exchange on the role of contexts for formats and methods of transdisciplinary and participatory research as well as the effects of transdisciplinary research on society and science was encouraged. This was reinforced in each case by impulses from participatory researchers. We are delighted that we were able to hold lively discussions with around 40 participants in each case. The Centre for Technology and Society (ZTG) at TU Berlin and the Institute for Social-Ecological Research (ISOE) also organised a workshop together with the Museum für Naturkunde Berlin (MfN) on the synergies and trade-offs between the social and scientific effects of transdisciplinary research and citizen science. In a further workshop, the ZTG and ISOE presented the draft of an orientation framework for monitoring transdisciplinary research projects. Around 30 participants explored the question of whether and in which form such a framework can support impact-orientated research practice.
An overview of the conference and soon also the documentation of the presentations can be found on the conference website.
